Install SFTP Browser and Downloader

This article guides you to install and use the additional software to securely view and download your CR file logs. More info can be found HERE.

Required files

  1. SFTP Browser App: SFTPBrowserSetup.exe: Web application for the local File Access Control.
  2. SFTP Downloader App: SFTPDownloaderSetup.exe

SFTP Downloader

  1. Run the SFTPDownloaderSetup.exe to install the apps. The apps will be installed as Windows Services: SFTPDownloader.
    1. Manage Service: Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services
    2. View Errors: Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer > Application
  2. Customize the configuration by editing the config file.
    1. File path: C:\Program Files (x86)\SFTP Downloader\SFTPDownloaderService.exe.config
    2. Items to customize: SFTP server access credentials, remote server path and local download path.
    3. The private key has to be in Putty PPK format, use WinSCP to convert if needed
  3. Restart the service and make sure there are no errors in the event log.
    1. The SFTP downloader will attempt to check for new files every few minutes, configurable using parameter remoteDownloadIntervalMins in the config file.

SFTP Browser

  1. Run the SFTPBrowserSetup.exe to install the apps. The apps will be installed as Windows Services: SFTPBrowser.
    1. Manage Service: Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services
    2. View Errors: Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer > Application
  2. Customize the configuration
    1. File path: C:\Program Files (x86)\SFTP Browser\BrowserWinSvc.exe.config
    2. Items to customize: browserLocalFolderPath, certificateFileFullPath, certificatePrivateKeyPassword, httpPort, httpsPort, rootUsername and rootPasswordMD5 keys.
    3. By default, the SFTP browser will be available at http://127.0.0.1:13447 and http://127.0.0.1:13448/ using a self-signed certificate. To load a proper SSL certificate, generate a PFX certificate file with the private key and update the config file.
    4. The rootUsername is required to log in the system for the first time to configure other user accounts.
  3. Restart the service and make sure there are no errors in the event log.
    1. The SFTP browser will be visible on the configured HTTP/HTTPS port

How to use the services

  1. Access control level of SFTP Browser

    1. Super Admin account:
      1. Configurable in the config file.
      2. Only the super admin account can login to web, browse files and config user account.
    2. Normal admin:
      1. Configurable via web interface.
      2. Can only login to web to browse files.
    3. Normal user:
      1. Configurable via web interface
      Can only login to download file with direct link (no access to other files)
  2. Log in SFTP Browser (super admin)

    1. At the URL bar, type in your local_IP_address:port/login (by default http://127.0.0.1:13448/login)
    2. Key in username and password
    3. Click Sign in
  3. Browse the files (super admin and admin)

    1. Click the folder and see the files inside
  4. Download the files

    1. From SFTP Browser (super admin)
      1. Click the files and download
    2. From direct link (logged in users):
      1. Direct link format: local_IP_address:port/login?d=XXXX&f=YYYY. Example:
        1. d is the folder name (e.g. monitor)
        2. f is the MP3 file name (e.g. record_1.mp3)
        3. --> https://10.24.1.50:13448/login?d=monitor&f=record_1.mp3
      2. After clicking the link, users are required to log in and then can download the file.
  5. Add more users

    1. Click Add user
    1. Fill in the info > Choose the type of user and Create
